Bright Beginnings – North Eastman Parent Child Coalition
In our province, Parent-Child Coalitions are funded by Healthy Child Manitoba.
Our goal is to bring together the many strengths and resources of the community to support early years’ development and improve the lives of families and children residing in the North Eastman region.
Bright Beginnings has established a grant program that makes funds available for local and regional projects that benefit families and children, 0 to 6 years of age.
Priority will be given to groups working in partnership with their communities. We intend to support initiatives that promote Positive Parenting, Nutrition and Physical Health, Learning and Literacy and Community Capacity Building.
Bright Beginnings is currently accepting applications for funding. Spring deadline is April 30, 2010 for anticipation of projects beginning in Fall 2010.
For more information, please contact our Regional Coordinator, Wendy Cooper, at 866-3258. Criteria guidelines and grant application forms are available on our website at www.bbpcc.ca.
Together, we can achieve greater possibilities!

COMMUNITY ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION
Purpose of Roundtable
Recreation is an integral part of a community and the daily lives of community residents. It is important to periodically examine recreation services to ensure that what is being provided is meeting the needs and interests in the community. The roundtable provided an opportunity for recreation service providers of our various programs to identify strengths, challenges, needs and ideas to improve recreation in the community. This first Community Roundtable looked at programs, events and services. A second session will be held in the future to examine recreation facilities and venues. The Brokenhead River Recreation Commission will use the information gathered to assist in future planning and to develop new strategies that better support the important work that our community recreation groups do.
The next Community Round Table Discussion will be held on Thursday January 28th and will focus on facilities.
